Hello, no, chlorine has nothing to do with pH.
You can raise the pH with various products, including caustic soda. Sometimes a carbonate or sodium bicarbonate is also used.
Greetings
Sorry, but although chlorine has nothing to do with pH, as mentioned above and the recommended products are used to raise the pH value, if for example sodium hypochlorite (commonly called chlorine) is used in a pool, as the chlorine is released and evaporates, it leaves residual hydroxide, which in the long run, increases the pH of the pool water. Perhaps that is what is confusing Mirta.
I prepared a 0.3M NaOH solution and its pH would be around 13.5. If I want to check its pH, I would take 1 mL of the solution in a chemical beaker with 60 mL of water. My question is: Will it change its pH? By mixing it with the 60mL
Hello, could you tell me if it would be possible to measure the pH in a cosmetic product that does not contain water but the solvent is alcohol? thank you very much in advance.
Thank you for the article. Just one comment to add to it: we must distinguish between the natural pH of food (outside the body) and the pH it has once it has been ingested. This can change.
For example, lemons with an acid pH, once they enter the organic ecosystem and after digestion, behave alkaline, because in the metabolism of this food, minerals are released that help to eliminate hydrogen ions, thus becoming one of the star food-medicines in naturopathic practice, to alkalise the body when it presents initial and even intermediate symptoms of acidosis (colds, flus, headaches, muscle aches, fatigue, etc.).) Of course, all of this is under medical supervision, since the particular metabolism of some people can leave acid residues in foods that behave as alkaline once ingested, as in the case of people with thyroid disorders, low stomach acidity, etc.
All very illustrative and what do I know. But, .... what is the name of the substance that is used in drops with the kit to measure the PH of the pool water and what is the name of the substance that we use to measure the Chlorine?
Thank you.
Hello, I have water with an alkaline ph of 12, I need to remove the salinity, but I understand that first I have to lower it to neutral ph base 7, what procedure do I have to do to remove the salinity? Likewise I would like to know for an acid ph and then what procedure to perform to remove the salinity. Greetings!
To raise the pH, should I use chlorine in addition to caustic soda?

Hello, yes, it would lower the pH.
At what concentration of sodium bicarbonate is your pH measured?
Water is neutral . It only helps you to measure.
How can I cite your work in my document?
Hello, if you put a link to the article great 🙂
You should mention the name and date of publication, so that your work has value and can be used by students.
Thank you Ericka!

This is not a problem. In fact, in the production of wine and beer (alcohols) the pH is always measured (with a standard pH meter).

Good morning everyone, a question, does anyone know why the scale goes from 1 to 14 because those ranges of values were defined?

Hello, I am going to manufacture liquid detergent, how much is the ph indicated for the finished product and how to measure it, thank you.
Hi, I want to make hypoallergenic liquid detergent but how can I lower the pH?
