HOW TO MAKE SOAP WITH SODA AND OIL STEP BY STEP
STEP 1. CHOOSE OILS AND SODA QUANTITY
The first step in soap making is to choose the oils to be used and the amount of soda and distilled water.
In this entry we leave you the guide to choosing the amount of soda according to the oila possible recipe would be:
- 250 grams of olive oil
- 5 grams of jojoba oil (Virgin Olive Oil would be fine)
- 5 grams of calendula oil (only Virgin Olive Oil will do)
- 33 grams of caustic soda
- 90 grams of distilled water
STEP 2. PREPARE THE SODA AND OILS
- Dissolve the soda in water. Be careful at this step as the water will heat up and it is essential not to touch the caustic soda at any time. The temperature of the water will rise to about 80º, let it stand until it drops to 40º.
- Dissolve the oils in another container and heat them in a bain-marie or on a hotplate until they reach 40º.
STEP 3: POUR THE CAUSTIC SODA INTO THE OILS AND MIX.
Once they have reached 40 degrees Celsius, pour the caustic soda into the oil container and start mixing them. Blend with a mixer (at low speed) for 10-15 minutes.
The moment when the mixture is ready is when it acquires a denser texture, like a purée or custard. When you get it, you will see it.
STEP 4. MOULD
Put the mixture in the mould and leave it to rest for 24 to 48 hours.
STEP 5. CUT AND SAVE
After 24-48 hours, it is removed from the mould, cut and stored in napkins or kitchen paper for 30 days to finish saponifying.

Good evening friend the formula to make liquid soap with soda sulphonic acid (cmc thickener) or some soap that does its function but liquid not paste.
Hello, I am making a homemade liquid washing machine soap. Until today I didn't know about this website and I think I have overdone a lot in the dosage of soda and now I don't know if it will be deactivated or corrosive. I have put 5 litres of olive oil, 1.5 kg of caustic soda, 60 litres of water, progressively (I might add more because it is in custard texture), 2 litres of vinegar, 2 litres of crushed natural aloe vera, 800g of percarborate, 100 gr of sea salt, 5 litres of commercial liquid detergent and 1 litre of fabric softener. Can you tell me what to do? How can I know if the soda is still present or if it has reacted completely?
Get ph paper in a chemist, dissolve a small amount of soap in a very small amount of water, dip the strip of ph paper and compare the colour with the scale that comes with the ph paper, that will give you a pretty accurate idea of how the process is, between 7 and 8 would be fine if it gives you higher is very alkaline, Greetings from Argentina and good luck!
Hello you can measure it with paper PH meter if the PH is at 8 not 9 it is fine if it is too high add more of any oil, stir it and measure it again until you get the desired PH, you can lower the PH until it is neutral which is 7.
Thanks, I'll try how it looks on me
It is very good
