On this occasion we are going to experiment in the kitchen and we are going to make gummy bears.

Many of you will think that this is not a proper science experiment, but when asked what experiment they wanted to do the following week, they had no doubt that they wanted to make giant jelly beans. I skipped the giant part and we made jelly beans. The steps were oriented towards the cooking engineerwho had made similar gummy bears.

MATERIALS TO MAKE GUMMY BEARS

  • Teddy bear mould - You can get it at Amazon
  • Flavoured gelatine - In any supermarket
  • Water

STEP BY STEP HOW TO MAKE GUMMY BEARS

Read the instructions for the gelatine. Normally to make gelatine what you are asked to do is for example, boil 1/4Litre (a glass of water), pour the gelatine in with the boiling water, stir and then pour in 1/4Litre and stir again and cool. In this case, to make the jelly beans, we will use half the amount of water, so that they are more solid, so we will use half a glass of water at the beginning and half a glass of water once we have added the gelatine. If the quantities indicated by the gelatine manufacturer are different, use only half.

  1. Heat water to boiling

  1. Pour in the contents of the gelatine sachet and stir well.
  2. Pour in the other part of the water and stir again.

3. Using a dropper (or carefully) pour the mixture into a mould.
