EXPERIMENT SHEET FIRST ELECTRIC GENERATOR

Short description | In this experiment we will be able to see how a magnet pulled inside a copper tube appears to slow down its fall. The copper has no magnetic properties, so it would seem a priori that the magnet inside the tube should fall in free fall, but as can be seen in the experiment, slows down. |
The effect is produced by the Faraday-Lenz lawwhereby a moving magnetic field produces an electric current. In turn, this electric current is creating a magnetic force on the magnet in the opposite direction to the movement, slowing it down.
The materials used in the experiment are: Copper tube and neodymium magnets.
